Your Responsibilities
- Executes the final buying decision under consideration of the stakeholder requirements, financial targets and approval of the Director International Buying (DIB).
- Decides the specification, design and packaging of product and cases in accordance with the agreed benchmarks and policies.
- Decides in cooperation with all stakeholders on the assortment and variety of all items.
- Authorises payment of invoices as described in the handbook.
- In charge of the creation and submission of the quarterly / monthly international product portfolio (Range Tool) to the National Buying Teams which includes information and proposals on products as well as indicative buying prices.
- Recommends product optimisations and new ranges / products which optimise sales growth and profitability to the Director International Buying (DIB) and National Buying Teams.
- Recommends delisting of products to the Director International Buying (DIB) and National Buying Teams.
- Makes proposals on the listing and delisting of suppliers to the Director International Buying (DIB) and National Buying Teams.
- Ensures that buying decisions will be executed under consideration of all QA and CR relevant requirements.
- Liaises in international buying operations with all involved stakeholders of the National Buying Teams.
- Reports significant market changes to the Director International Buying (DIB) with any recommendations of action to be taken.
- Analyses and reports price changes of all items to the Director International Buying (DIB) and recommends action to be taken.
- Prepares the financial reporting and planning in cooperation with the Director International Buying (DIB).
- Recommends the course of action in case of contractual non-fulfilment to the Director International Buying (DIB).
- Proposes Emergency Product withdrawals to the Director International Buying (DIB) or the Group Director International Buying (GDIB).
- Liaises with authorities if required.
- Supports strategic projects across the commodity group responsibility and act as appropriate business expert to train and teach team members, colleagues and superiors.
- Organises and manages daily operations concerning their respective product area in English.
- Conducts the performance management process review of employees and reporting to them.
- Carries out market place, competitor and price research.
- Carries out visits to suppliers and trade fairs.
- Implements the ALDI Due Diligence Policy and defines ALDI’s expectations on products for suppliers.
- Negotiates with supplier in their designated buying area to achieve the best price for the agreed quality.
- Ensures adherence to all legal requirements in their area of responsibility.
- Arranges and participates in sampling sessions.
- Maintains and controls buying records under consideration of the given timelines and ensures information is up to date and accurate at all times in all systems.
- Ensures and approves correct maintenance, done by the Buying Specialist International Buying (BSIB), of international item master data in the ALDI system landscape.
Your Requirements
- Degree holder in business or other relevant disciplines
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in similar positions gained in sizable organization.
- Sound knowledge in textile products
- Experience in sourcing / buying and order completion for European market(s).
- Practical hands-on experience in factories in Mainland China / South East Asia.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, team player.
- Good command of both verbal and written business English and fluency in Mandarin essential.
- Able to work independently, self-motivated, responsible, well-organized and willing to learn.
- Attention to detail and good organizing, coordination and planning skills.
- General knowledge of MS office and Exchange essential.
- High level of maturity, integrity, trustworthiness.
- Proactive and result-oriented business approach.
